Casa do Frango brings southern Portugal to London, built around its acclaimed piri-piri chicken, with buzzy, energetic rooms in London Bridge, Shoreditch and Mayfair.
The story
The restaurant was founded by friends Jake Kasumov and Marco Mendes, inspired by Marco’s childhood in the Algarve. It recreates the grillhouses of Guia, where chicken is butterflied and cooked over an open wood fire — the tradition at the heart of everything on the menu.
What to order
The star is the Algarvian chicken, cooked over a wood fire with caramelised skin and Casa’s secret piri-piri blend. Add the signature Casa Rice (Carolino rice, chorizo, crispy chicken skin, plantain), piri-piri garlic prawns, Iberico pork croquettes and bacalhau fritters.
The Space
The London Bridge original is striking — two floors of a vast, skylit Victorian warehouse with whitewashed brick, arched windows, overhanging greenery and hand-painted motifs nodding to Lisbon’s trams. The atmosphere is buzzy and energetic.
