Bombay-style Indian food in old Irani café style
Dishoom is one of London’s most loved Indian restaurants, a tribute to the old Irani cafés and the food of all Bombay. It has several London locations — Covent Garden, King’s Cross, Shoreditch, Carnaby, Kensington and Canary Wharf — each with its own décor, from the distressed café charm of Covent Garden to the restored Victorian warehouse at King’s Cross. The atmosphere is lively yet intimate, from breakfast to late-night dinner.
What to order
The famous dishes are the Bacon Naan Roll (crispy bacon, chilli-tomato jam and cream cheese in soft naan) and the House Black Daal, slow-cooked for 24 hours. Try also Chicken Ruby, spicy lamb chops, lamb samosas and fried okra, with House Chai and Mango Kulfi to finish.
Who it’s for
Good for breakfast with friends, a relaxed dinner or a group meal to share. Be prepared for queues at the busiest branches.

I had higher hopes that I'd love this place, but maybe I ordered badly – I picked their most popular dishes rather than what I knew I liked. They have two children's menus, and we tried both. The chicken was wonderful, a…

Overall, I think the food is good and tasty, though I'm not entirely sure the price is worth it, since the portions are small. The queue was sizeable, but they bring tea to the waiting customers. Since I don't remember t…

Recommend trying it at least once during your trip! Tasty and aromatic Indian cuisine – different from the usual. That evening we were on a vegetarian diet, and there's a big choice of vegetarian dishes. Though the dishe…
OK, the main thing: you can book a table after 6pm if the group is 6 or more people. At least from 7 to 8pm on a Friday evening, the wait at the restaurant is 25-30 minutes. Free tea is served at random to customers in t…

Great place. As an Indian, I have to say they really serve authentic Indian food. Impressed by how much detail they've put into the interior and the photos. Definitely visit. Central location. Kingfisher beer – if you're…
